Chapter 1
"Oh!" I shot up in bed, my hair tangled. "Edward?" I asked the previous night coming back to me. I swayed to my left, falling back on the pillow exhausted. I'd stayed up with Edward until early this morning. I groaned, and realized it was a Saturday morning. I could tell by the humidity, it was going to rain, so I could sleep until late, and let Edward go back to his home until I woke up.
A quiet rustling sound came from behind me, as I rolled over, only to bump into Edward's chest. "Good morning, Bella...," Edward grinned at me, using that crooked grin which I had come to love.
I nodded lazily. "Morning, Edward," I replied. "Mind if I have a minute to myself?" I asked, sitting up slowly.
Edward was already at the chair across from my bed, which was usually used for the desk and computer. "Go ahead, I'll be here." Staring out the window, Edward seemed tired, himself.
"You'd better stay," I managed to roll over still sitting up, and swing my legs over the bed side and stand on my feet. "Charlie left?" I asked, as I turned the doorknob.
"Yes, he did, a few hours ago," Edward said in return. That was definitely good. We had all day, today, as I had remembered that he said he was going fishing. We needed more fish, anyway. We were running low in the freezer.
"Kay," I mumbled, slowly trudging downstairs to the bathroom. I smiled at the thought of Edward being in my room, again. I wasn't used to it yet, probably, even though he'd been staying with me ever since he'd started to talk to me like a person. Shivering slightly at the thought of Edward hating me because of the memory of the first day I had in Forks High School. I seemed dazed, I guess, because I had been hesitant in front of the bathroom door for a few minutes, at least. Shaking my head, I opened the door reluctantly, wanting to get back in my room to be with Edward.
I quickly brushed my teeth with my toothbrush, still making sure I had brushed it thoroughly. Grabbing my hairbrush quickly, I'd pulled out all of the knots and tangles from my hair, letting it fall neatly against my shoulders. Staring at myself in the mirror hesitantly, I wondered about myself becoming a vampire. Was it possible that I could? I reflected.
At that moment, Edward flushed back into my mind, a smile pulling against my lips suddenly. "Oh!" I said, and rushed out of the bathroom and up the stairs, into my bedroom. "Sorry if I took so long."
"Oh, it's all right. Come here," Edward said with a smile, as I had obeyed. Wrapping his firm, cold and muscular arms around me, he held me tightly against him. "I love you, Bella. I will never get tired of seeing you, or even telling you that. I will stay with you, forever." I saw that his face was serious, but he also had a smile on. So, that was probably good.
"I love you too, Edward Cullen, and I promise to never leave you. Not that I have ever did, anyway," I added, with a grin on my face. "What do you have planned today?"
"Well, I was thinking about breakfast. Also, I still am," he picked me up in his arms with ease, as he swept me down the stairs, and into the kitchen, as he set me down on a chair. "Choices," he said, blowing his breath in my face. I leaned in closer, and inhaled; I could never get used to that aroma.
"Cereal?" I said, after I was sober.
"I can go with that," he tossed me a bowl, as if landed on the table in front of my gently, a sthingy, apple jacks, and milk already in it.
"Thanks," I mumbled, staring into my cereal. I grabbed the sthingy, and stirred the milk. "As I asked, did you have anything planned today?" I looked up hopefully.
He'd said the same line that he'd said on that night in Port Angeles, where he'd save my life from the surrounding men. "You eat, I talk," he muttered. "We're going to the place where I'd showed you--the meadow." He grinned playfully. "And hopefully, you will be able to make it there without any trouble. Right?"
"Yeah," I mumbled through a mouthful of applejacks and milk, as he started to shake with laughter.
"Bella!" He laughed again.
"What?" I asked, confusedly. I bowed my head down, letting strands of my hair fall in front of my flushed face. What was with him? I asked.
I could tell he was fidgeting anxiously. "Bella," he mumbled in a soft growl, and added something else, but I couldn't decode it, because he said it too fast. He then sniffed the air. "Your scent," he admitted, sourly.
"So?" I sighed, looking up at him with curiosity. "It's a bad thing?"
He sighed inwardly. "No, but yes. It's hard, I tried to explain it before, Bella. Let's just drop it."
"Fine," I replied curtly. "I'm done," I picked the bowl up, and emptied the remains out into the food dispenser, and washed the bowl and sthingy. Afterward, I reached for the towel that was set next to the sink, and wiped my hands with it.
"Ready to go?" Edward asked me.
"Nope, I should change. Give me a minute, Kay?" I asked.
He sighed. "Fine, all right. We have all day anyway."
I smiled, and dashed up the stairs into my room, pulling on my boots, which I'd received from Jacob as a present for hiking. I wrapped a jacket around my waist just in case, and tied my hair into a pony-tail. "That should do it...," I said to myself, as I grinned at the reflection in the mirror, before dashing back down the stairs.
"Ready, now, Bella?" Edward asked me.
"Yeah, I am."
"Good. We'll take my car."
"Fine," I mumbled. "It's not like anything is wrong with mine, is there?" I asked, grouchily. I didn't know why he had to take his car.
"No, there's nothing wrong with it. We should just take mine, all right?" He assured me.
"Fine," I snapped. Why was I in a bad mood? I didn't know. I almost shrugged at myself.
"Oh, come on Bella. Don't act like that." Edward protested, as he opened the passenger door for me. I stepped in, and looked up at him shutting the door with a smile, as he paused his talking.
As he opened the driver door in a few seconds, he continued. "It's going to be beautiful, I promise. It's not going to rain."
"Whatever," I ignored him, as he took my hand; I looked off into the roads. It was impossible to ignore such an angel, I could feel his eyes on my face.
